Arakoon is located midway between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. It is a place of serene beauty including unspoiled beaches, crystal clear water and a sub-tropical climate framed by spectacular landscapes, this pretty seaside village holds a treasury of things to experience and explore.
Beaches, Diving and Fishing
From a range of surf beaches to the shallow, sandy stretches of Trial Bay, there's a patch of sand here just right for you! Why not try scuba diving at the world renowned Fish Rock? Anglers consider South West Rocks to be one of the best fishing areas on the Mid North Coast with beach, river or deep-sea fishing.
Whale Watching
Arakoon is the place to be between May and August when the humpback whales are heading north. Peak whale watching months are June and July, with brilliant views afforded from Smoky Cape Lighthouse and the historic Trial Bay Gaol.
Dining Out
There are several quality restaurants with a choice of fresh local seafood, Chinese, Italian, Mexican as well as a variety of take-away options.
Nature Walks and Exploration
Don't forget your walking shoes! Arakoon offers a range of lovely bush and seaside walks to suit all levels of fitness. There are bike tracks throughout the area or you may prefer to take a 4WD trip to explore Smoky or Gap Beach. A visit to historic Trial Bay Gaol, situated in the Arakoon State Recreation Area is a must! The Country Club offers a range of sporting and entertainment facilities including a golf course, tennis, a swimming pool and lawn bowls, or catch a local band out at the Riverside Tavern.
